Are PROPER ATTIRE® Condoms for Me?

PROPER ATTIRE condoms are for every woman who wants to protect herself and her partner — and do it in style.

Whether you're thinking about using PROPER ATTIRE condoms, you're already using PROPER ATTIRE condoms, or you're just someone who's curious about them, you may have many questions.

Here are some of the most common questions we hear people ask about PROPER ATTIRE condoms and condoms in general. We hope the answers help you decide if they are right for you.

What Are PROPER ATTIRE Condoms?

PROPER ATTIRE condoms are thin, premium, lubricated, latex sheaths that are worn on the penis during intercourse. If used properly, latex condoms will help to prevent pregnancy and reduce the risk of transmission of HIV infection (AIDS) and many other sexually transmitted diseases.

PROPER ATTIRE condoms were created especially for the fashion-conscious woman who values style and top-notch quality. Unlike any other condom brand, every element of PROPER ATTIRE condoms has been inspired by the world of fashion, from the PROPER ATTIRE brand name and the chic packaging created by fashion designers, to the fig leaf logo showcasing clothing in its most primitive form.

With four fashionable styles — Basic (regular); Color (colored); Dots (studded); XL (extra large and flared) — PROPER ATTIRE condoms are a safe yet fun and fashionable way to make sure you are properly protected.

Reliable and effective, PROPER ATTIRE condoms are not only FDA-tested, but undergo rigorous quality assurance testing by the manufacturer as well as by independent laboratories.

How Do PROPER ATTIRE Condoms Work?

PROPER ATTIRE condoms prevent pregnancy by collecting pre-cum and semen when a man ejaculates. This keeps sperm from entering the vagina. Pregnancy cannot happen if sperm cannot join with an egg.

By covering the penis and keeping semen out of the vagina, anus, or mouth, PROPER ATTIRE condoms also work to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases.

What Are the Benefits of PROPER ATTIRE Condoms?

Using PROPER ATTIRE condoms is safe, simple, and convenient. Women and men choose PROPER ATTIRE condoms, not only because they are the hottest and most stylish brand of condoms available, but also because they

  • help prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases
  • are lightweight and disposable
  • do not require a prescription
  • can help relieve premature ejaculation
  • may help a man stay erect longer
  • can be put on as part of sex play
  • can be used with all other birth control methods (except the female condom) to provide very effective pregnancy prevention and to reduce risk of sexually transmitted diseases

Sexually transmitted diseases are passed from one person to another during sexual or intimate contact. Sexually transmitted diseases are very common. More than half of all of us will get one at some time in our lives. Using PROPER ATTIRE condoms allows us to reduce our risk of sexually transmitted diseases.

There are added benefits — many women and men say they have better sex when they use condoms. They are able to focus on their sexual pleasure without worrying about unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Some couples put the PROPER ATTIRE condom on as part of their foreplay. And many men stay hard longer when they use condoms.

Special Advantage for Women

The way a woman's internal sex organs are shaped makes them 10 to 20 times more likely than men to get sexually transmitted diseases. And the cervix in pregnant women, young girls, and teens is especially vulnerable to infection.

No matter how old you are, use PROPER ATTIRE condoms with your other method of birth control — whenever you are at risk for getting a sexually transmitted disease.

How Effective Are Condoms?

Effectiveness is an important and common concern when choosing a birth control method.

When you use condoms correctly and consistently, they are highly effective — although no contraceptive can guarantee 100 percent effectiveness.

  • Each year, 2 out of 100 women whose partners use condoms will become pregnant if they always use condoms correctly.
  • Each year, 15 out of 100 women whose partners use condoms will become pregnant if they don't always use condoms correctly.

You can make condoms more effective if you pull out before ejaculation.

Effectiveness is also a concern when it comes to safer sex. PROPER ATTIRE condoms offer very good protection against HIV. PROPER ATTIRE condoms also reduce the risk of other sexually transmitted diseases, including

  • chlamydia
  • chancroid
  • gonorrhea
  • hepatitis B
  • herpes
  • HPV
  • pelvic inflammatory disease
  • syphilis
  • trichomoniasis

PROPER ATTIRE condoms can also help prevent urinary tract infections in men who wear them.

PROPER ATTIRE Condoms and Oral Sex

Sexually transmitted diseases can be passed from one person to another during oral sex. The risk of passing sexually transmitted diseases is lower during oral sex than during vaginal or anal intercourse. People who want to further reduce their risk can use PROPER ATTIRE condoms during oral sex.

How Safe Are PROPER ATTIRE Condoms?

Almost everyone can use a PROPER ATTIRE condom safely. However, some people are allergic to latex or are sensitive or allergic to certain lubricants. If you or your partner has had any reaction to latex rubber or lubricants, you should not use PROPER ATTIRE condoms.

How Do I Use PROPER ATTIRE Condoms?

With a little practice, PROPER ATTIRE condoms are very easy to use.

Be sure to handle PROPER ATTIRE condoms properly. Keep in mind that certain types of lubricants can damage a condom. Use only water-based lubricants, such as K-Y jelly or AstroGlide, with PROPER ATTIRE condoms. Oil-based lubricants like petroleum jelly, cold cream, butter, or mineral and vegetable oils damage latex and will make the condom ineffective at preventing pregnancy and infection.

Putting on a PROPER ATTIRE Condom

Each package of PROPER ATTIRE condoms includes detailed instructions. Be sure to read and understand the instructions before you use a condom.

  1. Carefully tear open the PROPER ATTIRE condom foil along one side. Do not use teeth, finger nails, or jewelry to open the foil, because that may damage the condom.
  2. Put a drop or two of water-based lubricant inside the PROPER ATTIRE condom.
  3. Put the PROPER ATTIRE condom on after the penis is fully erect, but before the penis touches the vulva.
  4. If not circumcised, pull back the foreskin before rolling on the PROPER ATTIRE condom.
  5. Pinch the air out of the tip of the PROPER ATTIRE condom with one hand while placing it over the tip of the hard penis.
  6. Leave an empty space at the top to collect semen.
  7. Unroll the PROPER ATTIRE condom all the way to the base of the penis and smooth out any air bubbles.

Putting on a condom and taking it off

Taking off a PROPER ATTIRE Condom

  1. Pull out before the penis softens. Don't spill the semen — hold the PROPER ATTIRE condom against the base of the penis while you pull out.
  2. Throw the PROPER ATTIRE condom away. Wipe penis or wash with soap and water and use another PROPER ATTIRE condom if you're going to have sex again.

If a Condom Slips or Breaks

It is rare for a condom to break or slip if you're using it correctly. Every single PROPER ATTIRE condom is electronically tested for your safety and complies with U.S. and international standards. But if the condom breaks or slips and semen gets into the vagina, you may be at risk of pregnancy or a sexually transmitted disease. You can get emergency contraception (the morning-after pill) over the counter at Planned Parenthood® health centers or at most pharmacies. Use it as soon as possible — the sooner the better.

Call 1-800-800-PLAN to find a Planned Parenthood health center near you. Planned Parenthood staff can help you get emergency contraception, other birth control, and any sexually transmitted disease testing and treatment you may need.

PRECAUTIONS

Caution: Condoms Contain Natural Rubber Latex Which May Cause Allergic Reactions

PROPER ATTIRE condoms also contain lubricant. If you or your partner has had any reaction to latex rubber or lubricants, you should not use PROPER ATTIRE condoms.

  • Use a new PROPER ATTIRE condom every time you have intercourse.
  • Only use a PROPER ATTIRE condom once.
  • Store PROPER ATTIRE condoms in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight but not in a wallet or glove compartment. Avoid storing at temperatures above 100ºF.
  • Do not use a condom if it feels sticky, brittle, or looks damaged.
  • Check the expiration date on the PROPER ATTIRE condom foil. Do not use after expiration date.
  • For additional lubrication, use PROPER ATTIRE condoms with water-based lubricants. Do not use oil-based lubricants such as baby oil, vegetable oil, body lotions, or petroleum jelly because they may damage the condom.
  • If you use PROPER ATTIRE condoms along with other oil-based products in the vagina — such as stimulating gels for women, or products used to treat vaginal yeast infections, the condoms may be weakened and their effectiveness may be reduced.

Practice Makes Perfect

It is best if both you and your partner know how to put on and use a PROPER ATTIRE condom. It will make using a PROPER ATTIRE condom easier and more pleasurable and will make the condom more effective. To learn without feeling pressured or embarrassed, practice on a penis or a penis-shaped object like a banana, cucumber, or squash.

Don't Let Embarrassment Become a Health Risk

PROPER ATTIRE condoms were specifically designed to encourage women to feel more comfortable about carrying and buying condoms. So there's no need for you to feel embarrassed by the thought of buying condoms anymore. Be proud. Buying PROPER ATTIRE condoms shows that you're willing and able to combine your chic personal style with your commitment to health and safety.

However, if you are embarrassed to talk with your partner about using condoms, practice before you are in a sexual situation. You could even use one of our catchy little taglines "Required for entry.TM" or "Dress him up.TM" to help lighten it up a little. Then, choose the right time to talk — don't wait until the heat of passion takes over. It may overwhelm your good intentions.

Don't be shy — be direct. Be honest about your feelings and needs. It can help create a relaxed mood to make sex more enjoyable.

Talking is easier if you are in a respectful relationship that makes you feel happy and good about yourself and your partner. In any case, don't let embarrassment become a health risk.
